I’m here to write about I think about the essay “ Is Google Making Us Stupid?”

This essay talks about how we are using the Internet too much and how is changing the

way we think. It is propose that when we use the Internet and use search engines that we

are skimming info instead of finding a book and looking for hardcore answers to

answer questions or projects inside words of the text . Which will make us lazy to read or

find info in a book. According to the text one person said that he cant read War and

Peace anymore because now he can only skim the book now according to the passage

that I have read. Now I will give out my two cents about the matter.

In text of this essay the Internet is essentially making us dumb but I believe it just

giving out a helping hand to some that need to work faster . The author of the article

uses sources from a few people he met on a blog that the can read as much as they use

too. Wow! Getting or finding bloggers to say anything is excellent source but I say not !

How am I supposed to trust people on a blog when you can say anything on it not a very

good source. The source with the University College London don’t talk on the matter at

that people do become stupid by using the Internet not so at all . The experiment show

that people do skim their information is true but sometimes skimming over things is

needed. If skimming is bad why is it taught how to do in school so it must be right and

must be an okay thing to do.

It is an understandable idea to believe that Internet is making us stupid because,

we are using it a lot and becoming more dependent upon the use of the Internet . This is a

good argument to go upon but the Internet is just a stepping-stone of our life and meant

to help the people who needs it . There is a time when it start to get out of control and

then people start to let the Internet do thinking for them . The Internet is not meant for

that and by letting the Internet think for you is one of the reasons this essay was made and

I wouldn’t have to be writing this two-page lit response on “Is Google Making Us

Stupid”. The Internet is a great tool to use in life and without technological advance how

can we grow so it is about not taking the Internet with search engines too far . That

means it is good to use the brain every once in a while.


What really got my attention when the article talk about little bit about the

founders of Google Sergy Brin and Larry Paige . According to the article the founders of

of Google what to make Google have an artificial intelligence and to send info

straight into our brain by connecting our brains to the Internet . Me personally I feel like

they are trying to take over our humanity to make us smarter but without intelligence but

with an artificial intelligence. Most likely they are planning to be ahead of the

competition but taking away someone’s humanity for is wrong on so many levels.


In conclusion Google is not making us stupid but is taking over minds instead .

This can go to a philological way of thinking . If you write down every down in your life

how going to make your brain stronger ,faster, and smarter . Also, will this make

lazy if you have to write everything down of remembering with your brain . These

statement have made make myself think even more how we have become dependent

On written information than remembering then I guess I some cases Google have made

us stupid . So what should I do about that ?
